Sunday at the Stay-at-Home Lit Fest

Just a reminder that on Sunday (5th) at 11.00 am I will be online at the Stay-at-Home Lit Fest talking about and reading from my latest book Going In With Flowers, a reflection in poetry and prose of the 25 years I spent working in HMP Low Newton women’s prison, Durham.

There are many dark and difficult aspects to life in a women’s prison (and there are many concerns about both staff and prisoners in our current situation) but on Sunday, knowing how fragile many of us are at the moment, I will do my best to concentrate on the more positive aspects of prison life including, perhaps surprisingly, some of the laughter and song to be found there.

I’d love you to join me. It’s easily done – just click the link to the festival above in the first line – that will take you to the programme. Then scroll down to Sunday 5th and you will see my event. All you have to do is click on the link given in the programme at 11.00 – you do not need Zoom on your computer.

See you there – Avril x
