Five Things to Do When You Don’t Feel Like Writing

June 18, 2014
by avril

Here are five things I could do given I feel out of sorts with writing and I don’t feel like writing at all:

1. Open up an old file of poems or short stories – start reading and editing – writers need plenty of practice at editing.

2. Read something good I’ve written just to remind myself.

3. Go on the net or Twitter – don’t do this Avril, as chunks of wasted time lie in waiting – and it rarely has the desired motivational effect.

4. Go out in my garden – weed, sit, enjoy.

5. Just write on…

Today it’s number 4 – after all the sun’s out and calling…and the garden definitely needs weeding and sitting in – but first  a quick look at the wonderful A garden for pablo for inspiration

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken. –James Dent

Lavender, sadly not my garden, although I do have lavender – this is in the moanstery garden in the Abbaye de Valmagne near Montagnac in the Languedoc
