Longlists and Irish Writers

This morning wasn’t the best – I have some eye problems and I was told by my consultant they’re not improving (luckily now I still see fine!) But then I came home to my e mail and discovered this –

Doire Press announces its long lists for its 1st Annual International Fiction & Poetry Chapbook Competition. Click here to see the names. Be sure to check back on; February 13th for short lists of ten and February 20th for the winners

I’m there in the prose longlist with lots of Irish writers – can’t be bad!

  1. Hi Av, sorry to hear about your eye but over the moon to see you listed amongst the great and the good! Hope to see you on the next list too x
P.S. Which book is it? x

    1. Thanks Jan – it was a short story submission. The winner gets a collection of their work published as a chapbook (small book about 40 pgs) and while I am in no way expecting it to be me I’m just pleased to get recognised

  2. Congratulations Avril! Wonderful news for you. (sorry to hear about your eyes.) Your book suggestions sound so interesting. I just finished reading Julian Barnes: The Sense of an Ending, which you recommended several weeks ago. I liked it very much-still pondering.

    1. Hi Anne – lovely to hear from you and thanks for all your recent comments on the blog – I’ve missed you!
