My WritingShort Stories

Writing Plan Up and Working

Part of my writing plan for 2011 was to buy myself a new computer – a P.C. Well, it has arrived and thanks to my son David is fully operational. I love it! It’s so quick – my laptop was slowly dying, poor thing. But I also love that I believed in my writing and the writing year ahead, enough to get myself the right tools.

So far my writing plan is working well and keeping me on task. I’ve just completed the first draft of a new short story and started another. I’ve posted most days on my new blog www.onthewhitepage.com and I’ve ordered some new books from Amazon – one of which, The Collected Stories of Katherine Mansfield I am already reading and enjoying very much –  but more about that next week.

Short stories seem to me to be a great way to revitalise your writing and for me at this point a great way of ensuring I get on with the writing while waiting for other news.

Apologies to those looking for a RoomtoWrite update – it will appear SOON – and will include details of our March conference on The Short Story and some top tips and thanks to all who visited here in December – which was a record month for the blog! Keep Writing!

  1. Hello, thank you for popping in on my blog. I love the layout of yours – did you do it?
How long has Juliet been your agent? She made my day (to put it mildly!) last November when she asked to represent me. I have everything crossed for 2011. Thanks for your good wishes and I hope this year brings good news for you too.
Looking forward to keeping in touch! : )

    1. Hi Angela – thank you for coming back to my blog! My layout is a WordPress theme – so downloadable but only through WordPress (my son helped me set it up) Juliet has been my agent for several years. I did have another agent before but I couldn’t work with her – she was kind of intimidating and not helpful in the end. So Juliet has been wonderful, really encouraging – lets keep all our fingers crossed for both of us in 2011 – we should definitely keep in touch

  2. The new machine is a gesture of faith in yourself andyour writing – have fun with it. I agree with your point about the regenerative character of tackling short stories. They may not be easier than novels but the time scale, and the arcitectrural demands are definitely different,

    juliet IS a peach.
