FREE – From Writing With Love

Morning! It occurs to me that you may be thinking of using some of this stay at home time to start that short story/novel you’ve always wanted to write.

Maybe you want to give writing a go but haven’t dared. Maybe you’ve fallen out of love with writing and want to re-kindle the fire or perhaps you want to improve those short stories and enter some competitions now you have the time.

With this in mind, in the coming 7 days I will be posting my book on writing – From Writing With Love, here on my website for FREE. You can access it by clicking on the From Writing With Love, tab in the menu above, or this link.

If you’re interested you can take a look at reader’s reviews, here

From Writing With Love, is in seven parts:

  • PART 1 Becoming a Writer
  • PART 2 Voice
  • PART 3 Short Stories
  • PART 4 The Novel – Things I Wish I’d Known
  • PART 5 How to Succeed
  • PART 6.The Writing Life
  • PART 7 Postscript

To get a flavour of the book – I’ve posted the introduction below. It’s written in short bite sized pieces and good therefore to mull over with that cup of tea or coffee, or even a glass of wine, if you have any – Monday our lovely Sainsbury’s delivery man phoned me from outside the house and said he wouldn’t be able to deliver us age-related products like wine and paracetamol. Really!? Fortunately we got over that one by me appearing at the door to take in the first bags. Phew!

Introduction From Writing With Love

Whether you’re just beginning your love affair with writing or whether you’ve already fallen passionately and irrevocably in love, this is a book for you. If you fear you may be falling out of love with writing this is still a book for you. If you’re looking for permission to write, searching for that writer’s voice only you have, or wondering how you can overcome fears of failure and learn to celebrate what you do, this is a book for you.

I came late to writing and after a matter of only months found myself hopelessly in love. I had some modest, early success with publication  but then a series of difficult rejections. In 2011 I came dangerously close to falling out of love with the one thing that had changed my life. Writing had brought me a deep and lasting sense of satisfaction and pleasure, it was the only thing I really wanted to do, so if I wasn’t prepared to lose it all I had to think again.

Much of this new thinking, which ironically led to greater success, has gone into the pages here, many of which have appeared on my blog and in my newsletter. Here, in From Writing With Love , I share with you how I stayed in love with writing, what still inspires me, what has helped me cope with success and disappointment in my writing life and much of what I’ve learned about the craft of writing along the way.

This is not a how to book. It will not tell you how to write your novel or your short story although I hope it will give you good, sound advice. It will not tell you how to get an agent or how to win a prize. I have no wish to set myself up as an expert on writing. What I hope to do in these pages is to share with you what I’ve learned on my writing journey, to inspire you to be the best writer you can be and better still help you celebrate and enjoy with me this amazing writing life.
