  1. Fantastic news Av, no less than you deserve. Am sure you stand a good chance of winning, your work is strong and beautifully written. xx

  2. Congratulations Avril! I spent some time reading through recent posts on your blog the other night; commented here and there. Love hearing about all your new projects and their success.

Your hand-made book reminded me of one I had bought in a church book sale last summer: Meadow Thoughts by Richard Jefferies, Tern press, 1977. I was attracted to it because of the hand-made look. I thought the author must have been local. Inspired by your post, I got it out and Googled the title and author. I found that that Jefferies was a notable English naturalist from Swindon, Wiltshire County, born in 1848, died 1887, 39 years old. Chills ran up my spine. Not only that but the book I paid $1.00 for is valued at least $100.00. My copy is #5 of 80 copies and signed by Nicholas Parry whose woodcuts illustrate the book.

I added The Orchid House to my Library Thing account today and included the review by Erica Yeoman, which I liked. Hope that’s ok.

And Happy New Year to you …a bit late…thanks for your greeting on Knot in Line.

    1. Thanks for this Anne. I saw all your lovely comments, did reply to one, not sure which now. I am really delighted you have put The Orchid House in your library – thank you so much.
What a wonderful find Meadow Thoughts was! – I will take alook and Google him too. You really do have a deep connection with the West Country – it seems to call to you in so many ways and from so many places – love to see some [pictures of the book sometime

    1. I know – just now I love them – and I guess with a paternal grandfather from Waterford I am connected in some ways!
      Thanks Wendy x
